DESCRIPTION: The Police Chief reports to the City Administrator and serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT). The Police Chief will plan, organize, direct and evaluate the activities of the Police Department and ensure protection of life and property and preservation of peace and order. The Chief performs other related administrative and supervisory responsibilities as delegated by the City Administrator including Animal Control, Municipal Court, and Jail Services. The Arlington Police Department employs 28 officers and 6 civilian staff. The department is part of a regional service concept including the cities of Marysville and Lake Stevens.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, management, or related field and ten years of increasingly responsible law enforcement experience, including at least three years supervisory and administrative experience in a department of ten or more full-paid commissioned officer positions is required. A Master's degree and completion of the F.B.I. National Academy is preferred. Certification as a Washington State Law Enforcement Officer must be obtained within six months of hire.
