DESCRIPTION:  The City of Newcastle, Washington, is a residential suburban community of 9,925 residents.  Conveniently located southeast of Bellevue at the interchange of I-405 and I-90, Newcastle is just 20 minutes away from Downtown Seattle and SeaTac Airport.   For family-oriented people who want to escape from urban sprawl, Newcastle combines the convenience and choices of urban living with the comfort and feel of a small town. Incorporated in 1994, Newcastle is a code city organized under the Council/Manager form of government.  The annual city budget is approximately $11.1 million and the city has 20 FTEs.  Reporting to the City Council, the City Manager is the chief executive officer of the municipal corporation and administers the day-to-day operations of the city. 

Competitive candidates should have at least five to seven years of senior management experience, such as city manager/administrator, deputy/assistant, or department director, in a city or county or other applicable or public sector agency of similar or greater complexity and size. A Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, or other applicable field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
