DESCRIPTION:  The City of Marysville, Washington, incorporated in 1891, is a rapidly growing, prosperous, diversified community just 45 minutes north of Seattle. A recently completed annexation has increased the City's population from 37,000 to 57,578, making Marysville the second largest city in Snohomish County. Marysville is an ideally located economic center with a rapidly expanding business sector, offering residents and businesses opportunities to prosper while preserving the unhurried qualities of life in this growing region.

The Community Development Department is comprised of four divisions, Planning, Business Office/Permit Services, Engineering Services-Land Development, and Building Services, and is staffed with 23 FTE's and 2 PTE's, and has a budget of $2,210,607.

Serving as a member of the City's leadership team and reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Community Development Director plans, directs, manages and oversees all activities and operations of the Community Development Department.

A Bachelor's degree in urban or city planning or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess 7 to 10 years of extensive planning-related experience in a comparable public sector agency, with at least 5 years in a senior management role, such as community development director, planning director, assistant planning director or planning manager.
