DESCRIPTION: The City of Kennewick, population 65,860, is located on the banks of the Columbia River in the heart of the award winning Washington State wine producing region. With its sister cities of Richland, Pasco, and West Richland, the area is commonly known as the Tri-Cities. The region offers an abundance of recreational opportunities, many sunny days, and a wide variety of special events throughout the year.

Reporting to the Economic Development Executive Director, the Planning Director oversees the activities and operations of the Community Planning Division, which is staffed with 6.25 FTE’s and has a budget of $920,582.

A Bachelor's degree in urban planning or a related field, and three or more years of previous experience in municipal planning is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience to provide sufficient evidence of the successful performance of the essential elements of the job.
